For Project 2, I now understand that we are supposed to research a community we are not yet a part of in order to undergo “on the ground research” and learn more about this community. Furthermore, I know that we are supposed to have a minimum of 10 sources, 7 of which must be “scholarly sources”. I feel that this is good practice for any future research papers we have to write. Before our class trip to the library, I had no idea about the data bases we could use to find academic sources that were peer reviewed. Without this knowledge, I would have used Google to find all my sources. Luckily, I’ve already found all my sources which give me a good amount of academic research about my topic. I’m also aware that the article “Consider the Lobster” by David Foster Wallace should be used as an example for this paper. However, I think it’s going to be difficult for more to incorporate an interview, “on the ground research”, and academic research into one paper nicely. Additionally, I’m confused about whether or not to use a casual tone and first person, like the article “Consider the Lobster” did.
