Mini Genre Presentation
The link above shows a YouTube video titled "Kids Meet a Drag Queen". This video is from a YouTube channel, called HiHo Kids, that is notorious for featuring kids in videos meeting new and interesting people, trying new foods, and participating in other activities aimed to make their audience laugh. The video I showed for for my presentation was for all age groups, however, the older age groups will find it more humorous because they will be able to identify how straightforward the kids' questions are. This text is able to use the innocence of children to ask the questions that everyone wants to know, while not being insulting. The channel includes kids meeting other people including someone with muscular dystrophy and a person who is deaf. The genre of the video could be considered a comedy/information YouTube series. The video itself appears to be a well-made production with a while background. This could be so that the audience only focuses on the interaction between the children and guest or maybe so that kids won't get distracted due to their young age.
Class Log for 4/16/18
Mat started off the class with announcements. He reminded us to put some notes about our mini-presentation on our portfolios. He said to put everything on the portfolio, including the log, all ten blogs, and especially your reflection! The portfolio gives Mat the freedom to improve your grade.
If you want to improve your grade for project 2, you have to fill out a revision plan and go to the RWC. The more eyes you get on your paper, the better. Because these are portfolio grades, you can continue to revise your work. If the RWC fills up, email Mat and he will help you figure it out.
Pitches are coming up the next time we meet (4/18/18). The pitches are supposed to “sell something” and be engaging. They should be 1 minute, but if it is under 30 seconds, you won’t get credit for it.
If you’re stuck on your genres for project 3, you can look in the back of the BBG at the different genres.
Next, we worked on our Wix portfoilios. Mat showed us how to upload documents. For the final draft, Mat said he prefers if the final draft is in paragraph form on Wix, instead of as a document. He also said to put the older drafts underneath your final draft. We then looked at examples of previous students Wix websites and their reflections.
